While acting is his passion, Cody also takes a lot of enjoyment in directing. In high school, he directed productions of The Yellow Boat and Arsenic & Old Lace. At Webster Conservatory, he directed student productions of Slop-Culture, California Suite as well as his own adaptation of Scary Stories To Tell in the Dark. His original one-act Wendigo premiered as a collection of new works at Stage 773 in Chicago in October, 2015. For Timber Lake Playhouse, he assistant directed The Commedia Pinocchio and directed The Prince and the Pauper and Charlotte's Web for the Magic Owl Children's Series in 2016 and 2017. For Timber Lake Playhouse, he also directed Patrick Hamilton's Gaslight in 2016.

"Director Cody Jolly guides Gaslight to a quick pace that boasts just enough surprises; some audience members, on Thursday, actually gasped at several well-timed points throughout the evening. And the fun part about the show is that it's quite smart without becoming a typical horror story – it's truly about the thrill, with no horror needed. An intelligent thriller, Gaslight is destined to leave you on the edge of your seat as you try and follow the sick, tortured path of this play through its own very dark and stormy night."--River Cities Reader, J. Ashcroft
